The 1968 Sunday Times Golden Globe saw Robin Knox-Johnston complete the first solo non-stop circumnavigation. The race has been revived since 2018 from Les Sables-d'Olonne: long-keel production yachts, sextant navigation, no GPS. The 2026 edition has been under way since 6 September 2026, with a gate off Lanzarote.
